I was expecting a dark coloured pearl shell, close to the one pictured. I ordered two pieces which were not identical in the pattern and the shade. One was of a dark green with some black and the other was a lighter green. Imagine it as if you were to create it by using a single drop of a colour mixture in water. No product is gonna have the exact same pattern or shade. Though I was expecting it to be darker, I actually like that it is not as dark as the shell pictured and I love that you can see the pattern (say, how the single drop formed it). Saying all this, if you want a dark or black top, maybe opt for a different product.
